Poker Book Review
Rolf Slot boom is a good poker player and respected writer, with a large amount of life experience and cashes in tournaments around the world. He has written several books about poker, have a range of Card Player, and editor of Card Player Europe.
The book is divided into seven chapters, and begins with the warning that it was not “how to” book. Rolf continued to warn the player looking for quick fixes, without the investment of time and effort in the game, should look elsewhere. Immediately took my attention, because there are no loud cries of scam quickness get rich scheme, and it was nice to see the poker books preach hard work is key.
Two final chapters do contain advice on how to play hands in certain situations, but the last five mainly related to how Rolf himself will be played throughout his career in poker.
The first two chapters cover live playing, Rolf from time to play the game of money to stay in Omaha, first to Vienna, and Amsterdam. Here the authors mainly covers the differences between the play and stacked in a short play, and there are lots of great advice in choosing the right seat to how deep you want to sit down. Although the chapter is taken from living arrangements, find a way to translate very well to talk to the game online.
Vienna game play less than buy-in/blinds Amsterdam, but there are also many differences in style of play opponents that are used, which serves to illustrate important points - how you play iaayon for different games or table.
Rob moved here from playing online on some games is Omaha’s largest, more than Chapters 3 & 4 he discusses the first hand (9-10 players), then turn the short hand. Once again the difference between playing styles between the author of 2 games are highlighted.
Chapter 5 is a collection of 18 articles written for Rolf career Omaha and edited for this book. Although at first glance seem a bit sluggish chapters, unless you actually read it all before, you will get a large amount of this section. There are many topics discussed here, including the defeat Aces, starting hands, bet size, playing blocker, strong / weak drama, and more. Style of this section makes it very easy to read, but there are also some great strategy and play to absorb.
2 the final chapter of a book analyzing the actual hand; Chapter 6 contains five hand training for 30 pages, including your choice of rated through the point system, giving you the opportunity to check how many books you have taken advice
Chapter 7 analyzes five hands a little more intense, shows the mathematics behind the hand, and how they, or should be played. The explanation is complex but well-written, and makes a good end to the book.
Overall this book flows well, from the little “chat” easy to read because, with the most important aspect of playing Omaha, complex analysis, and hand surgery. Most of Rolf styles are very strict, but he opened with a more aggressive loose play where needed. Wherever you play, and what a game for, if Omaha, this book will help you fine. Highly recommended.
